Results from our survey on the effectiveness of clinical teach-backs

Nexus Health Resources recently conducted an online survey with care coordinators on the impact of clinical teach-backs and changing patient behavior. The care coordinators that participated in the survey included clinical professionals coordinating the care for patients with cardiac, diabetes, and pulmonary conditions.

Some of the takeaways from this survey are the high proportion of responses that agree that clinical teach backs are an effective component of care coordination communications with over 1/3 of respondents indicating that clinical teach-backs are extremely effective. Another interesting response is the number of teach-backs required to help patients form health habits, with the most common responses being 3 and 5 teach-backs delivered.
